This project involves the design of a new single-family home for a married couple, nestled in a rural landscape just outside Marble, Colorado. Set on a generous site south of the Crystal River, the home is framed by sweeping views of the Ragged Mountain Ridge. The design seeks to create a place where a family can grow and thrive, while remaining deeply connected to the rhythms of the river and the enduring presence of the surrounding mountains.

As the project design lead, I directed all phases of the design process, working closely with the client to translate their needs into a home that supports family growth while staying within a defined budget. I guided key decisions related to sustainability, including the integration of solar panels on the south-facing roof to reduce the home’s energy footprint. Through the design, I focused on shaping spaces that balance comfort and efficiency inside while intentionally framing views and connections to the surrounding mountain landscape—an essential quality of mountain living.
The project has been highly successful and is now nearing completion. The client has expressed satisfaction with what was achieved within her budget, particularly given her role as the project’s general contractor. Throughout construction, I provided ongoing support during the construction administration process, helping guide decisions and maintain design intent. The home is currently awaiting siding and solar panel installation, with construction anticipated to be completed by Spring 2026.
