This project involved designing a new dry deck and patio for the backyard of an existing home on Cinnamon Mountain road in Mount Crested Butte. Situated in the foothills of the Crested Butte Ski Resort, just a short drive from the base area, the site offers sweeping views of Mount Crested Butte and the surrounding Elk Mountains. The design aimed to create an outdoor retreat where the homeowner and guests can relax, breathe in the crisp mountain air, and fully connect with the natural beauty of their surroundings.

As the project design lead, I guided the design through all phases, collaborating closely with the client to create functional and inviting outdoor spaces. Together, we designed a large upper deck for exterior dining and a spacious patio below to accommodate a new hot tub. To ensure year-round usability, I worked closely with the builder to integrate a concealed roof system beneath the deck, providing protection from both rain and snow while maintaining a clean, seamless design.
The project was a success, and the client was delighted with the new outdoor spaces. They appreciated how the dry deck roof allows them to enjoy the patio year-round, providing shelter from rain and snow while seamlessly complementing the home’s design.
